FAQs

How does your home collection service work?

After booking, we’ll offer you the nearest available collection date for the service you’ve selected via SMS. You can confirm, cancel or rearrange the date by replying at this point.

We’ll remind you a couple of days before we arrive and send a 1 hr time window on the day. All our visits are made after 4.30pm weekdays.

Just wait for us to turn up, when we’ll chat briefly with you about your bike before taking it to our workshop for triage – after which you’ll receive a PDF condition report and estimate of costs. Once we have your approval we’ll order any parts we need and start work on your bike, staying in touch with any important updates. You’ll get a payment link (via SMS or email) to pay for the repairs once their complete

We’ll turn up as arranged with your freshly serviced and road tested bike on the arranged dropoff date. This will usually be 7 days after collection.

What’s the minimum spend for a home collection or on-site repair in my area?

In our core area minimum spend is:

  • £55 for On-site repair
  • £75 for home collection/dropoff

All our main servicing packages come with FREE home collection and return in our core area. The minimum labour spend for your location is listed at https://bikemandan.co.uk/callout-area

(Tip: once there you can use the search feature on your browser to find your postcode quickly)

If your postcode is not listed you are very welcome to bring the bike to our workshop, just call us to arrange.

Do you collect bikes for repair in my area?

Yes! Our core area covers Solihull, Redditch, Moseley/Kings Heath, Stirchley and Bournville, Knowle and Henley in Arden among others. But we go much furthe – to see an approximate map go to https://bikemandan.co.uk/callout-area

How much is it to fix my bike?

All our current labour prices are listed at https://bikemandan.co.uk/prices/. Please bear in mind there is a minimum spend on labour if we come to you. You will be notified, quoted and asked for approval for any additional work or parts that we may recommend.

Can I bring my bike to you?

Yes you are welcome to bring your bike to us – we book all our work in advance so please use the booking form and when asked, select “Workshop – I will bring my bike to you”. Once we’re sure we can complete what you need we will invite you to bring your bike in. There is no minimum spend for work done to bikes brought to our workshop.

What’s included in a service?

We have various servicing packages depending on the current state / service interval of your particular bike.

Can you fix the bike at my house?

Yes. However there’s a limit to work we can complete on-site due to wildly varying component specifications between bikes and diagnosing/fixing them can be a complicated process involving sourcing of bespoke parts in many cases.

We’re equipped to perform standard puncture repair/tube replacement, basic gear indexing (no damage) and cable replacements on site. For anything else, please contact us to discuss your issue before booking.

NB If you are in any doubt what your issue is, or how to solve it – then please do not book an on-site repair. You’ll be charged for the visit regardless of the outcome!

How do I pay?

Online: We accept all payments for home visit work through our online payment system. You will receive an SMS and email containing a payment link once the work is complete – payment must be received before your bike is returned.

Cash: We accept cash payments at our workshop only.

Card: We cannot take physical card/contactless payments at this time.

What if there is a problem with the work I’ve paid for?

This is very rare, but it can happen! If you notice anything at all strange stop riding IMMEDIATELY! Please do not pay another mechanic to fix anything – we will put it right free of charge! Just use our booking system link in your last SMS message to request a return visit on our next round in your area, or bring it in to our workshop.

Please make sure you do this straight away and don’t touch or ride the bike until we’ve seen it or additional costs may be incurred!

Do I need to clean my bike?

There’s no need to clean your bike before we look at it unless it is particularly caked in mud, (or dog poo!) Our Advanced and Full services include cleaning as standard.
